EXCURSION OVER ASCENSION, MAY 25th TO 28th 2006 ORGANIZED BY
G. BERTHOUD

For the 4-day week-end of Ascension, our friend Georges organized an excursion in neighboring France in the region between Grenoble and Valence, passing trough Vercors. So only a few kilometers  from geneva, no autoroutes and with very interesting - if not to say surprising - visits, such as that to the water museum (the only one in France). No mecahnicals problems, splendid sunshine for these four days, and constant conviviality - in a word, just the kind of excursion we all love.

Lovely hotel parking at the hotel at saint-Lattier (Auberge du Viaduc)

 Guided tour of Pont-en-Royans.

Still at Pont-en-Royans, a visit to the water museum with refreshments.
(a great 'first' for the club: normaly we visit wine cellars).

Still in the vein of refreshments, this time it's a chocolate factory (Pupin à Chatte).

Very interesting, and the audience is under the spell.

Well, almost. (He is forgiven, this is the organizer who invested so much of himself in order for these 4 days to be a success that this left it's mark. Bravo and a big thank-you, George).

Return to the hotel, leisure and relaxation around the pool,

While awaiting the dinner hour, aperitfs are a must.

Dining in style at the Auberge du Viaduc at Saint-Lattier, the place is worth a detour.

Boarding at Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans. The Sone is discovered in a paddle-wheel boat.

On the return trip a stop at the 'Palais idéal du Facteur Cheval' was a must.
This work, classified as an historic monument by André Malraux in 1969, the postman Cheval gathered stones during his rounds and at night constructed his palace. This went on for 33 years and ended up as a monument of 26 meters long, 14 meters wide and 10 meters hight!

Another great 'first': the picinic on the last day.

Jack and Danielle XK 150 S roadster.
